Samsung laptop Ubuntu vê o wifi, mas não conecta

Eu sei que existem milhares dessas perguntas, mas eu tentei algumas e não obtive nenhum resultado, então decidi abrir uma nova pergunta. A coisa NetworkConnections vê a conexão wifi, mas não conecta e não há como eu ver para dizer para conectar manualmente.

Eu gostaria de resolver o problema sem recorrer à conexão com fio, pois uso este laptop na universidade e também quero usar o Wi-Fi.

Não é uma resposta abrangente, mas, no meu caso, consegui resolver o problema de alguma forma ao verificar as coisas para as perguntas do AzkerM nos comentários:

  1. Tentei executar sudo apt-get install g++ para verificar se eu poderia instalar algo.
  2. O resultado foi E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
  3. Eu fiz isso e tentei executar o g ++ install novamente.
  4. ??? (Magia aconteceu, tanto quanto eu estou preocupado, não tem idéia do que fez isso)
  5. Lucro! (houve internet, de repente.)

Tenho certeza de que executar o sudo dpkg --configure -a fez o truque aqui.
