Resolução da tela - não é possível obter o xorg.conf para usar o Modeline em vez do EDID

Tendo problemas reais para obter o Ubuntu 13.04 funcionando corretamente em um computador de mesa All In One Sony Vaio VGC-JS1E. Eu também não tenho som, mas essa questão é sobre resolução de tela.

O painel no PC tem uma resolução nativa de 1680 x 1050. Não consigo encontrar mais informações do que isso, incluindo a taxa de atualização. Gráficos são Intel. Na primeira instalação, o padrão da tela é uma resolução baixa no canto superior esquerdo da tela, sendo o restante preenchido com repetições das colunas / linhas de pixel da extrema direita e da parte inferior. Eu posso mudar a resolução para uma resolução mais alta nas configurações do Ubuntu, mas a resolução nativa não aparece na lista. Também há um segundo painel detectado, embora eu não tenha um conectado. Eu entendo que isso pode ter algo a ver com uma saída HDMI, mesmo que não esteja em uso.

Eu tentei adicioná-lo com xrandr, mas a área fora da resolução máxima na lista (1600 x 1200) está oculta (o ponteiro do mouse desaparece atrás dos pixels repetidos). Então eu comecei a trabalhar procurando nos fóruns para criar um arquivo xorg.conf com um Modeline apropriado e várias opções para forçar o X a usar apenas uma tela (que funciona) e ignorar as informações falsas do EDID da tela e usar o Modeline . Tudo o que tento, no entanto, parece inútil.

Eu não tenho nenhum pedaço de uma tela na matriz LCD, que também foi renderizada pela Intel. Depois de ter substituído 1366x768 com a matriz 1024x768 . Ainda faz vídeo para 1366 pontos por linha. Relatórios de drivers "Erro" no EDID Qualquer tentativa de alterar o driver não teve sorte.

Parece que o driver da Intel ignora a modeline . E eu não tenho nenhuma idéia de como, mas o software de configuração controla as configurações reais da resolução de opções do driver. O que os torna fora de seu próprio julgamento, às vezes fora de EDID algumas vezes fora de algumas configurações de bruxaria macabra, mas não fora de modeline .
