Xorg: nenhuma tela encontrada na inicialização em 12.04.2 LTS

Eu tenho uma placa de vídeo Intel IvyBridge. Esta manhã, meu 12.04.02 LTS me tratou com uma falha no servidor Xorg.

  • Experimentar um kernel antigo funcionou uma vez, mas levou ao mesmo erro durante a reinicialização. O problema não parece estar relacionado ao kernel.
  • Reiniciar o lightdm levou-me a uma tela de login da GUI:

    sudo service lightdm stop
    
    sudo service lightdm start
    

Então, agora eu posso fazer um pouco de diagnósticos. Eu fiz um diff dos logs do Xorg entre o primeiro Xorg start (que caiu) e o segundo (que teve sucesso). Eles parecem semelhantes, até certo ponto.

  • Por que o Xorg está travando na inicialização e por que ele pode ser iniciado normalmente logo após?
  • Isso é um bug? Se sim, vou enviar um relatório.

Há uma solução recomendada que funcionou para mim:

A workaround is to add some sleep to /etc/init/lightdm.conf:

    sleep 10
    exec lightdm

BTW, 1 segundo foi o suficiente.
