libtool instalado, mas não no caminho após a instalação

Estou tentando instalar o libtool. Parece não estar disponível mesmo depois de eu instalá-lo.

Qualquer ajuda valorizada.

sudo apt-get install libtool-bin

No meu Ubuntu LTS, eu tentei

sudo apt-get install libtool

Na raiz da pasta de origem

autoconf
autoreconf --install 

feito com sucesso
