Eu sou um novo usuário do Ubuntu e conecto-me à Internet usando banda larga wi-fi no meu notebook. Mas eu preciso configurar uma conexão dial-up através do meu telefone, o que pode me manter online enquanto viajo.
Eu tentei conectar-me ao dial-up usando pppconfig, wvdial e gnome-ppp. Eu não sei se eles usam os mesmos arquivos para conexão, mas eu só consegui me conectar usando o Gnome-ppp. Mas a conexão é intermitente e desconecta a cada cinco segundos ou mais. O código de saída é 16, que eu verifiquei no homem e fiquei sabendo que o modem se desligou.
Estou conectando meu telefone ao Ubuntu como um modem usb. E como sou novo, eu poderia ter pulado um ou dois passos.
Por favor, sugira uma solução ou uma alternativa para isso. Eu coloquei o log do Gnome-ppp.

Eu resolvi meu problema executando isso no terminal:
sudo chgrp dip /etc/ppp/*secrets
sudo chmod 660 /etc/ppp/*secrets
sudo adduser yourusername dip
sudo adduser yourusername dialout
Executar gnome-gppp setup
Saia de gnome-ppp
Em seguida, edite o arquivo ~/.wvdial.conf
Alterar linha Stupid Mode = off para Stupid Mode = on
Execute gnome-ppp e não faça mais configurações.
Isso funcionou para mim em 12.04 e 12.10
Use apenas sudo wvdial em vez de wvdial .
Estou com problemas com o mesmo erro. Um cliente trouxe seu laptop Ubuntu. Perguntou que eu atualizá-lo para 12,04 e me pediu para adicionar um modem USB. Tudo o que foi feito. Gnome-ppp vê o modem, parece funcionar. Ele se conecta e, em seguida, alguns segundos depois, ele se desconecta com o erro PPPD 16. Eu tentei usar o wvdial, ele não funciona. Eu tentei 'sudo wvdial --config = / root / .wvdial.conf' e faz o mesmo que gnome-ppp. Se alguém souber uma maneira de contornar isso, com certeza seria bom se você compartilhasse as informações comigo.
Eu resolvi meu problema executando isso no terminal:
sudo vim /etc/ppp/options
e eu removi alguns ids conflitantes, que encontrei em /var/log/messages like

Executar gnome-ppp
Isso funcionou para mim em 12.04 e 12.10
