Parece ser um bug. Há uma solução descrita que reconstrói o cache, veja " Assinatura inválida para extras.ubuntu.com " e isso funcionou para mim.
Ok, normalmente executo uma atualização do apt-get e atualizo uma vez por dia. Agora, de repente, está me dizendo isso:

Agora, em todo o meu tempo de uso do Ubuntu eu nunca vi isso, então estou bastante confuso. Qualquer ajuda seria muito apreciada.

Começou esta manhã a acontecer de novo (2/12/11: 12: 00 GMT). Eu presumo que algo atrapalhou o processo de assinatura automática e ele estará de volta quando a próxima atualização for enviada.

Eu tive o mesmo problema recentemente com es.archive.ubuntu.com e eu concordo com Stuart que isso é uma falha temporária.
Nesse meio tempo, sugiro a seguinte solução alternativa:
Software Sources
Main Server na lista suspensa Download from Isso mudará suas fontes de gb.archive.ubuntu.com para apenas archive.ubuntu.com, o que deve funcionar bem. Alternativamente, você pode olhar para Other... e selecionar outro servidor no Reino Unido.
