não é possível remover o linux-image-extra-4.4.0-71-generic [duplicado]

Estou tentando instalar o kernel mais recente, mas quando eu corro

sudo apt-get -f install linux-image-4.4.0-78-generic linux-image-extra-4.4.0-78-generic

Eu recebo este erro:

E ele parece ficar preso indefinidamente ... alguém poderia me dizer como eu posso depurar isso ou me recuperar dele?

edit: / boot não está cheio, ele tem 254MB de espaço livre

edit2: o problema parece ser com update-initramfs , quando eu executo sudo update-initramfs -u , ele está preso indefinidamente
