Eu acabei de atualizar para o Ubuntu 16.04 e comecei a ter problemas com o vmware 10.0.6-2700073.x86.

Minha experiência é que não há nenhuma correção para esse problema. Eu encontrei o problema e até agora a resposta oficial do VMware foi que o problema ocorre porque os drivers necessários para iniciar a estação de trabalho vmware 10 e 11 são drivers não assinados (vmmon e vmnet); e o Ubuntu 16 não permite que drivers não assinados sejam executados automaticamente no sistema operacional. Além disso, a estação de trabalho vmware não fornece esses drivers nativamente, eles devem ser compilados e instalados no momento da execução do serviço. Portanto, a solução sugerida é criar um par de chaves pública / privada que assina os drivers quando instalados, para que o Ubuntu UEFI possa aceitá-los. Outra solução sugerida foi desativar o BIOS da UEFI.

Bem, minha experiência tem sido que nenhuma das "correções" acima realmente funciona com todos os sistemas. A solução para mim foi desembolsar o dinheiro e pagar pela workstation vmware 12 Pro. Ele carregou automaticamente os drivers vmmon e vmnet e viu todos os meus vm's e os carregou.
