Alterar redes sem fio causa queda do sistema

No meu computador com uma placa mãe "ASUS X99-PRO", tenho um sistema semi-aleatório pendurado cerca de 25% do tempo quando altero a rede sem fio. O adaptador é:

O sistema não fornece nenhum feedback que eu possa ver, tanto o mouse quanto o teclado não respondem e a única maneira é fazer uma reinicialização do hardware. No começo eu pensei que isso era algo relacionado à interface do usuário, uma vez que se tornou não-responsivo e eu usei o alternativa de terminal :

nmcli c up id <WiFiConn>
Infelizmente, o problema continua e, como minha conexão sem fio está instável, isso está começando a me irritar. Eu sou um pouco sem pistas sobre por onde começar, algum conselho?
