Segui este tutorial e consegui resolver o problema.
Instalei o Ubuntu 12.04 LTS alonside com o Windows 8.1 em uma partição de logica separada.
Agora, só posso entrar no Ubuntu. Quando tento logar no Windows pelo menu GRUB, recebo um erro que me leva de volta ao menu GRUB. Aqui está o meu cat /boot/grub/grub.cfg
