Ubuntu 12.04 sem conexão com a Internet

Eu tenho um laptop que é compatível com o Ubuntu 12.04 ou o Windows 7, mas não consigo fazer nada que exija uma conexão com a Internet no lado do Ubuntu. Já passei pelo guia de solução de problemas de limpeza de cache, reinicialização, etc. sem sucesso. O ícone wireless no menu superior mostra que estou conectado à minha rede wifi, mas o firefox não funciona e também não posso usar os protocolos ssh ou sftp. A mensagem de erro que recebo com o Firefox é "Servidor não encontrado". Qualquer ideia é apreciada!

Tente alterar seu DNS para o do Google: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 Também altere a pesquisa para: www.google.com

Isso pode ser feito clicando com o botão direito do mouse na rede, editando as conexões, selecionando o relacionado ao WiFi, Endereços, selecione DHCP (Apenas Endereços)
