Atualizei o 12.04 e não consegui me conectar à internet por meio do email firefox ou thunderbird.

Abra o arquivo /etc/resolv.com
(você pode usar um terminal e digitar sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf)
adicione uma linha nameserver 8.8.8.8 #Isso adiciona um google dns
