Eu tentei instalar o Rhythmbox 2.99.1 usando o .tar.xz do saucy no launchpad e parece que estou recebendo erros sobre dependências. Alguém sabe uma boa maneira de corrigir esses problemas de dependências?

que irá instalar todas as dependências para o Rhythmbox 2.99.1?

A resposta de rajagenupula não funciona. Apenas desce o Rhythmbox. Não consigo colocar o log do terminal aqui, mas está disponível aqui: link
Você pode instalar automaticamente todas as dependências de compilação com sudo apt-get build-dep rhythmbox .
apt-get build-dep <packagename> funciona com qualquer pacote que você queira construir a partir da origem. Simplesmente nomeie o pacote e todos os pacotes necessários para sua instalação serão automaticamente instalados.
Dependências geralmente podem ser corrigidas por
sudo apt-get install -f
