Eu tenho Kubuntu 14.10 com Linux desktop001 3.16.0-30-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 12 22:06:37 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux kernel e quando eu emito o comando para atualização do sistema: clear && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade && sudo apt-get autoremove , o updare para em: 100% [Waiting for headers] e depois de algum tempo recebo avisos e erros:

Esta é a primeira vez que não consigo atualizar o sistema, por quê?
Edite seu arquivo sources.list como o superusuário.
sudo kate /etc/apt/sources.list
Comente a seguinte linha:
deb-src http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy-security universe restricted multiverse main #Added by software-properties
