Kubuntu com o AMD Sempron

Eu quero instalar o Kubuntu em um pendrive USB para rodar no meu laptop Acer Aspire 1362WLD com um chip AMD Sempron 2800+ (acho que é de 32 bits), também rodando o Windows XP Home - qual ISO / torrent devo usar? ?

Muito obrigado por isso, SirCharlo. Depois de algumas tentativas, acho que estou progredindo, mas ainda não cheguei lá. (Eu editei meu primeiro post, já que ainda não conheço o fórum).

Usando o Windows baixei e salvei kubuntu-2.04.1-desktop-i386.iso seguido por Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.1.1.exe . Eu corri o último arquivo, inserindo o primeiro no prompt de letra vermelha.

Ao entrar na configuração da Bios, a ordem das opções de inicialização era Disco Rígido, Unidade de Disquete, Unidade de CD-ROM / DVD e Inicialização da Rede. Não havia opção para o drive USB, então eu mudei o disco rígido de cima para baixo e salvei a configuração.

Ao reiniciar uma tela preta aparece com duas mensagens:

Error E61 Media test failure - check cable
PXE MOF Exiting Intel PXE Rom This is soon replaced by a choice of Windows XP and Ubuntu

Selecionando o último, uma tela preta aparece com mensagens de erro incluindo algo como:

Error prefix is not set 
Error No such device /ubuntu/disks/root.disk
Error No such device /ubuntu/install/boot/grub.config

Em breve, isso será substituído por uma mensagem:

Minimal Bash-like editing is supported...
grub> [flashing cursor]. This is as far as it gets.

Eu tenho errado em algum lugar? Se não, eu preciso tentar os métodos alternativos descritos em link como o gerenciador de inicialização do PloP ou outra coisa?

Baixe o Kubuntu ISO regular de 32 bits (o download recomendado) na página oficial de download do Kubuntu .

Burning a CD or creating an install USB stick

Kubuntu can be installed from a recordable CD (or DVD) or from an USB stick. Then it can be used as a regular operation system, or as a Live image which you can install Kubuntu from. Pessoalmente, prefiro usar o LiLi para criar USBs inicializáveis. Eu sempre tive mais sucesso com isso do que com o Unetbootin ou qualquer outra coisa.

• Boot with the USB flash frive connected, and enter the BIOS setup.

• Choose Hard Drive if you want to set the computer to boot from your USB drive, as it is probably detected by your BIOS as a hard disk, not a removable drive..

• Change the boot order of the hard drives. Choose Hard Drive first and then move your USB flash drive up in the list to make sure it's first. The boot order can usually be changed with the + and - keys.

• Finally, save the changes to the BIOS setup by locating and choosing the Exit Saving Changes (or similarly worded) option. This can usually be accomplished by hitting F10.
