Eu já tentei fazer o que foi listado aqui: Gerenciador de atualizações:" Ocorreu um problema ao verificar as atualizações ", mas não funcionou.
Sempre que clico no círculo vermelho com a linha, o gerenciador de atualizações aparece e depois desaparece.
Quando tento fazer sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

Parece que correu sudo apt-get update OK, mas depois ignorou a parte sudo apt-get upgrade . Tente executar sudo apt-get upgrade novamente e poste quaisquer erros exatos que você possa ter.
