Eu tive exatamente o mesmo problema de bibliotecas (não é possível instalar o vlc devido a problemas com as dependências da biblioteca libgles1-mesa e libgles2-mesa). Eu poderia resolver o problema usando o aptitude.
No entanto, não pude instalar o vlc imediatamente devido aos problemas de dependência da biblioteca.

você está liderando com duas opções:
