Instalação do Vim 8. repositório não encontrado

Estou tentando instalar o vim 8 no Ubuntu 16.10 adicionando o seguinte repositório da seguinte forma:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jonathonf/vim

depois de fazer isso, o apt update fica preso

Estou usando o repositório errado? Estou seguindo as instruções que encontrei aqui .

Esse repositório não fornece pacotes para 16.10 (Yakkety). Note também que o howto que você está lendo diz que é para 16.04, não 16.10.
