Arquivo de configuração do Apache 000-default.conf não está funcionando

Estou tentando mudar o DocumentRoot do meu apache, mas por alguma estranha razão parece ignorar o arquivo /etc/apache2/sites-available/00-default.conf

O Apache ignora sites-available até que você ative o site (caso em que ele é simbolizado em sites-enabled ).

Execute os seguintes comandos:

sudo a2dissite 000-default
sudo a2ensite 000-default
sudo systemctl restart apache2

Isso desativará o site "Padrão", habilitará o site "Padrão" e, em seguida, a reinicialização do Apache atualizará a configuração e, em seguida, deverá usar o docroot atualizado de acordo. Observe que pode haver outros problemas de permissão não discutidos aqui; você precisaria abrir uma nova pergunta para isso.
