Por favor, execute este comando do terminal:

lspci -nn

Assumo que seu dispositivo sem fio é 168c: 0036. Drivers sem fio atualizados são necessários para reivindicar este dispositivo. Com uma conexão Ethernet com fio temporária, faça o seguinte:

sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-cw-3.8-precise-generic 
sudo modprobe ath9k

Seu wireless deve estar funcionando.

Se você instalou outro pacote de driver concorrente, recomendo que você o remova. Primeiro, encontre o nome exato:

dpkg --list | grep ath9k

Depois remova-o:

sudo apt-get remove --purge oem-whatever-you-found

Confirme se o driver ath9k dirige seu dispositivo:

sudo lshw -C network

Ele deve mostrar um driver, ath9k e uma interface sem fio, idealmente, wlan0.
