Pacotes não estão disponíveis para instalação

Alterando algumas configurações de Atualização de Software Eu possivelmente corrompi algo e agora não vejo muitos pacotes na lista. Por exemplo:

alex@u120464:~$ sudo apt-get install codeblocks
[sudo] password for alex:

E: Unable to locate package codeblocks

Eu verifiquei todas as opções na caixa de diálogo Software Sources, mas os pacotes ainda não estão disponíveis. Como posso consertar isso?

SO: Ubuntu 12.04, 64 bits.

Parece que a maioria dos repositórios do Ubuntu não são pesquisados, como posso restaurar o comportamento de atualização padrão?

Finalmente, o problema foi resolvido copiando o arquivo /etc/apt/source.list de outro computador. Este é o conteúdo do arquivo ofensivo:

Resolvido copiando o arquivo /etc/apt/sources.list de outro computador.

Por favor, abra o gerenciador de atualização ou as Fontes de Software, dependendo da sua distribuição e, em seguida, adicione / marque o repositório do universo a partir das fontes de software.
