unidade externa USB não é reconhecido por qualquer sistema operacional, como solucionar problemas no Ubuntu?

Primeiro de tudo, gostaria de informar que vi uma pergunta semelhante à minha, mas o erro foi diferente, então aqui está o meu problema ...

Eu tenho um modelo HD samsung s2 externo de 500GB e um dia a dia só parou de funcionar, tentei em outros sistemas (windows e mac) no entanto não são reconhecidos. No gerenciador de dispositivos do Windows, quando insiro o usb, ele informa que o dispositivo em questão não está funcionando corretamente.

O erro é que o chip do controlador USB na caixa do disco rígido parece ter falhado. Não Ubuntu ou Windows ou Mac podem reconhecê-lo como você disse.

Você pode tentar abrir e extrair o disco rígido se quiser resgatar quaisquer dados nele, já que parece estar tudo bem.
