Eu instalei recentemente o Debian 9 e o Ubuntu 17.10 em um laptop destacável Dell Latitude 5285.
As webcams (a da traseira e a da frente) não são reconhecidas.
Não há arquivo /dev/video* .
Não sei qual é o modelo da webcam.
O site de suporte da Dell para este laptop menciona uma webcam Realtek IR .

Não está claro para mim qual linha se refere à webcam.

Em resumo, essas webcams "complexas" precisam de drivers no espaço do kernel e no espaço do usuário, e levará algum tempo até que elas sejam suportadas pelo linux.
