Eu acidentalmente formatado totalmente um disco rígido externo depois de cortar uma pasta grande do meu desktop Ubuntu e colá-lo no disco rígido externo.
Como eu totalmente formatou o hdd, executei o bisturi para encontrar os arquivos que foram cortados da área de trabalho com o seguinte comando:
scalpel /dev/sdb4 -o /media/myusername/F4D27EB9D27E8022/undel/
O Scalpel conseguiu recuperar muitos arquivos, mas parou porque o destino não tinha mais espaço de armazenamento. As últimas linhas no terminal foram:

Eu pesquisei "Escalpelo de arquivo de imagem de bisturi" para entender em que estágio o bisturi ficava preso, para decidir se deveria executá-lo novamente ou não (ele durou 6 dias antes de ficar preso), mas não o fiz encontre qualquer lugar que explique a saída do terminal do Scalpel.
