Não é possível instalar o VMware Workstation Player

Question

Estou executando o seguinte comando para tentar instalá-lo:

$ sudo sh VMware-Player-14.0.0-6661328.x86_64.bundle --console --custom -I

Eu aceito os contratos de licença e, em seguida:

Produz o acima e falha silenciosamente.

Eu verifiquei o MD5SUM e o SHA1SUM e ambos estão bem.
