Minha rede sem fio doméstica é listada como rede oculta e, toda vez que eu fizer login, tenho que conectá-la manualmente. Não está listado na lista de conexão sem fio. Só consigo conectá-lo selecionando a opção "Conectar à rede sem fio oculta". Eu não tive nenhum problema com 12.04.

Claro que há uma solução alternativa para evitar a avaliação manual incômoda no caso de você insistir em usar conexão oculta. Basta abrir o editor de conexão nm e limpar a caixa de seleção "Disponível para todos os usuários". Então o gerenciador de rede deve ser capaz de se conectar automaticamente.
O SSID da sua rede aparece se você fizer uma verificação manual?
