Não é possível atualizar o Requests lib Python

Estou tentando atualizar a versão do Requests for Python 2.7.6 no Ubuntu 14.04, mas não consigo.

Se eu tentar executar sudo pip install requests --upgrade , recebo esta mensagem:

Se eu tentar desinstalá-lo para instalá-lo novamente: sudo pip uninstall requests :

Not uninstalling requests at /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages, owned by OS.

primeiro tente isso

sudo -i pip install --upgrade requests

se isso não funcionar, então abaixo de um

Desinstale o seu pip e instale a última esperança de que isso possa resolver o problema

desinstalar - sudo pip uninstall pip

reinstale sudo apt install python-pip
