Não é possível instalar o Appium

Estou tentando instalar o Appium no Ubuntu 16.4 e usar este site de referência Estou preso no comando npm install -g appium Ele está mostrando os erros abaixo:

Alguém por favor pode me sugerir o caminho para superar esse erro.

Algum lugar node.js e npm não era compatível com a configuração dada por que motivo estava criando problema. Eu atualizei ambos e obtive a instalação bem-sucedida.
