Eu tenho o ubuntu 14.04 e a versão do nó é 6.11.1 e eu li no site
O nó vem com o npm instalado, então você deve ter uma versão do npm. E estava funcionando bem até agora. Hoje recebi o erro que npm is not installed então tente instalar o npm mas dá erros abaixo.
