Estou executando o servidor apache2 e o mpm_prefork está ativado.
o apache2.conf contém:

mas quando eu faço

mostra-me 502 processos do apache2. O que significa que está pegando o valor StartServers de 500 de algum lugar. Em algum momento no passado eu tinha Start Servers definido para 500 em mpm_prefork.conf , mas agora o novo arquivo conf não está tendo efeito.
No entanto, se eu copiar, cole o conteúdo de mpm_prefork.conf e cole-o no final de apache2.conf , em seguida, o valor StartServers muda e eu posso vê-lo usando ps ax | grep apache2 . Claramente, algo está superando o arquivo mpm_prefork.conf , mas não consigo entender por quê. Não há nada em apache2.conf que pareça estar acima, colei o conteúdo aqui:

Ok, tenho tido o mesmo problema por algum tempo. Eu dei uma olhada no mods-enabled e encontrei o arquivo mdm_prefork.conf - isso contém as configurações do servidor, não tenho certeza de onde ele está obtendo o arquivo (é um link). Fiz as mudanças lá - funcionou. Provavelmente a melhor maneira de fazer isso, mas funcionou para mim.
