Estou ciente de que perguntas semelhantes foram feitas inúmeras vezes, mas até agora não consegui encontrar uma correspondência apropriada para o meu caso.
Estou executando um servidor 14.04 de 32 bits em um contêiner OpenVZ, que fornece esse kernel:
$ uname -r
2.6.32-042stab116.2
Não sei como / por que começou, mas apt
tem repetidamente tentado (e não) atualizado para a série 3.13, terminando assim:

Meu entendimento é que o kernel está inteiramente sob a responsabilidade do host OpenVZ, e
Foi o que aconteceu quando tentei limpar explicitamente todos os pacotes indesejados do Linux .
Usando o aptitude em vez do apt-get eliminou alguns pacotes e alterou o status de todas as imagens restantes para pH
, mas não resolveu o problema:

Eu executei o aptitude novamente na lista acima de 3.13 pacotes, e desta vez todos os cabeçalhos foram eliminados, mas as imagens "extras" ainda estão lá.

Eu dei outra chance , e esta é a saída . Parece que para limpar essas imagens extras (com dependências óbvias não atendidas, já que as imagens correspondentes desapareceram), faltam alguns arquivos exigidos por aptitude
