Como posso ativar a NIC sem fio Qualcomm Atheros com o Ubuntu 14.04?

Eu comprei um Lenovo Z70-80 na semana passada e instalei o Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr. Eu estive nos fóruns desde que tentei encontrar uma razão pela qual meu adaptador sem fio não funciona. Funcionou sob o Windows 10. Ethernet funciona bem. Estou percebendo que talvez ainda não haja drivers para isso:

O suporte a componentes é muito melhor do que costumava ser, e o Ubuntu, entre outros membros da comunidade, merece mais do que apenas um tapinha nas costas nesse sentido (falar sobre doações). A Qualcomm, juntamente com outros fabricantes, anunciou o firmware de fornecimento aberto para o seu hardware. No entanto, o suporte a cartões sem fio e gráficos (nvidia!) ainda pode ser escasso em máquinas mais recentes.
Se a conexão sem fio não funcionar, tente:

  1. Atualize para uma distro com o kernel e os drivers mais recentes (às vezes usando um novo firmware com algum rmmod e modprobe irá fazer o truque). Para o QCA6174, a melhor coisa a fazer é atualizar para o Ubuntu 15.10 (você pode usar o atualizador de software Ubuntu em vez de instalar o 15.10 a partir do zero) pois ele tem o kernel 4.2 e ath10k firmware .

    Uma coisa estranha que pode acontecer após uma atualização é que o touchpad para de funcionar, geralmente resolvido desconectando e, em seguida, anexando o touchpad no terminal e / ou reinstalando o firmware, por exemplo. synaptics (ajuda pode ser encontrada em askubuntu).

    Em geral, ao tocar com o linux, uma boa idéia é ter um mouse USB e uma placa wireless USB.

  2. Os backports podem ser uma solução muito rápida e conveniente para permitir que os kernels mais antigos funcionem com softwares que só suportam kernels mais novos. Você faria o download do backport para sua distro e depois os pacotes de firmware para o NIC. Sobre UbuntuBackports .

  3. Se os itens acima não funcionarem, você pode comprar uma placa wireless USB dual band de baixo custo por menos de US $ 15 que tem suporte a Linux (veja o site oficial). Você pode usá-lo até que o kernel e o firmware do seu NIC sejam disponibilizados, e será muito útil tê-lo por perto caso alguma coisa quebre.

  4. Se você precisar da porta USB ou tiver algum outro motivo para não usar 3, poderá obter um novo NIC com suporte a Linux. Os da Intel geralmente parecem ter um bom suporte antes mesmo de liberar o hardware.
