como ativar meu wifi?

Comprei um receptor pci-wifi. Ele pode ser usado no win7.Como torná-lo ativo no meu linux?

Seu Intel Corporation WiFi Link 5100 [8086: 4232] usa o driver iwlwifi . Carregue e veja se o wireless ganha vida:

sudo modprobe iwlwifi

Verifique:

iwconfig

Se uma interface wlan0 aparecer, vamos fazer o módulo carregar automaticamente na inicialização:

sudo -i
echo iwlwifi  >>  /etc/modules
exit

Se não, verifique o log de pistas por que não:

dmesg | grep iwl

resolvido por apt-get install firmware-iwlwifi , agora o Wi-Fi pode ser verificado.
