Antes de executar seu comando ( sudo hostapd -dd /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf ), execute o comando follow
sudo nmcli nm wifi off
sudo rfkill unblock wlan
Ou faça o downgrade do hostapd para a versão 1.
Estou usando o servidor Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS com o kernel mais recente, assim como o Hostapd v2.1, e não posso fazer questão de trabalhar aqui registra o hostad. Por favor ajude a resolver o problema!
