Para corrigir seus erros, execute o seguinte comando em uma janela do Terminal.
sudo apt-get purge pdnsd
Simplesmente instalar o pacote pdnsd é suficiente para fazer o pdnsd funcionar como um servidor de nomes de encaminhamento de cache.
sudo apt-get install pdnsd
