Suspender completamente a suspensão (no nível do kernel? - tem que ser independente do DE usado e do estado de login!)

Mais uma vez, preciso de uma solução alternativa para lidar com minha placa gráfica de notebook quase quebrada: ela não é ativada após a suspensão!

O sistema Ubuntu 14.10 está ativado, mas a tela permanece desligada, então eu tenho que pressionar o botão Power e navegar cegamente para a opção "Shutdown", para evitar um desligamento strong.

Já desativei a suspensão de todas as minhas contas de usuário seguindo esta resposta . No entanto, eu já vi três vezes quando realmente fez a suspensão!
Isso foi:

  • uma vez depois que eu deixo meu caderno de noite (não consigo lembrar do último estado ...)
  • uma vez depois de fechar a tampa antes de entrar em qualquer conta de usuário após o boot
  • uma vez quando o notebook não estava em uso por um bom tempo (poucas horas no máximo) depois de deixá-lo na tela de bloqueio

Acho que, de alguma forma, ainda é permitido que o sistema use suspensão e que não haja nenhuma regra definida para a tela de login / bloqueio.
Agora, posso desativar a funcionalidade de suspensão também?

Atualização:
Recentemente, instalei o lubuntu-desktop para tentar o LXDE em vez do Unity. Agora no modo Lubuntu, não consigo desabilitar a suspensão. Fechar a tampa faz uma suspensão, que também faz com que a tela morra até que eu reinicie.
Então a solução tem que ser independente do DE usado!

Encontrei a solução na falha do servidor:

Temos que criar um script executável em /etc/pm/sleep.d/ que cancelará qualquer ação de hibernação ou suspensão.

sudoedit /etc/pm/sleep.d/000cancel-hibernate-suspend

O conteúdo deste arquivo deve ser:

Agora torne esse arquivo executável:
