Forçar o modo de vídeo sem informações do EDID

Eu quero forçar minha resolução de exibição nativa de 1920x1080, embora nenhuma informação EDID esteja disponível. Minha área de trabalho está conectada a um comutador VGA e, portanto, não pode consultar o EDID (funciona bem sem o comutador). Todas as tentativas de forçar X a usar a resolução nativa falharam. A resolução sempre cai para o nvidia-auto-select , que seleciona um modo do conjunto de modos predefinidos. Modos personalizados são ignorados sem nenhum erro. Eu também tentei UseEDID em vez de ÌgnoreEDID na seção de dispositivo e tela. Estou usando uma nvidia 430 com o driver nvidia. Abaixo está meu xorg.conf

Como se constata, isso pode ser um bug, afinal. Meu servidor X ignora todas as configurações feitas no xorg.conf padrão. Em vez disso, só aceita configuração nos arquivos /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/*.conf, mas apenas nos arquivos já presentes. Por isso, roubei um dos arquivos de configuração já existentes. Eu sei que uma atualização acabará por substituí-los em algum momento no futuro. Para resolver o problema inicial, usei uma modelagem personalizada:

O que eu fiz (em 14.04) depois de puxar meu cabelo sobre isso (o Google mostra MUITOS hits sobre versões mais antigas do Ubuntu, mas nada sobre os mais recentes) foi ignorar completamente o Xorg.conf. Em vez disso, eu habilitei o logon automático e coloquei o seguinte no meu .xprofile:

xrandr --fb 1920x1080
xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_59.9" 138.5 1920 1968 2000 2080 1080 1083 1088 1111 +HSync -VSync
xrandr --addmode VGA1 "1920x1080_59.9"
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1920x1080_59.9

Eu obtive os parâmetros de newmode usando cvt -r 1920 1080 . Se você tiver uma chance de ativar o DDC por um tempo (por exemplo, seu comutador KVM não manipula o DDC, mas você pode conectar o monitor diretamente na placa de vídeo para depurar), você também pode usar xrandr --verbose -q .

Eu verifiquei sua configuração original do xorg.conf e descobri que há alguns itens suspeitos:

  1. Você já verificou se suas configurações HorizSync e VertRefresh estavam corretas?
  2. ÌgnoreEDID foi descontinuado, use UseEDID
  3. Remova "NoVesaModes, NoXServerModes", apenas use a opção "ModeValidation" "NoEDIDModes"
  4. Em vez de usar a opção "MetaModes" "1920x1080_new", use a opção "MetaModes" "1920x1080 + 0 + 0"

Eu também encontrei esta opção no manual do usuário da nvidia:

"AllowNonEdidModes": se um modo não estiver listado na lista de modos EDID de um dispositivo de exibição, o driver NVIDIA X descartará o modo se o sinalizador EDID 1.3 "GTF Suportado" não estiver definido, se o EDID 1.4 "Frequência Contínua" flag não está definido, ou se o dispositivo de exibição estiver conectado à GPU por um protocolo digital (por exemplo, DVI, DP, etc). Este token desabilita essas verificações para modos não-EDID.

Eu tive um problema semelhante, mas uso HDMI. A resolução foi sempre feita com nvidia auto .

Parece que o problema está fora de drivers datados de drivers adicionais que você pode obter o mais recente do PPA seguinte.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates 
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist upgrade

Isso pode resolver seu problema.

EDIT: Eu não sei se você corrigiu isso, mas para quem precisa saber, aqui está como forçar uma resolução com uma placa Nvidia.

O comando a seguir forçará uma resolução de 1080p NÃO EXECUTE ROOT !!!

nvidia-settings --assign CurrentMetaMode="DFP-0: 1920x1080_60 {ViewPortIn=1920x1080, ViewPortOut=1980x1080+0+0, Panning 1920x1080}"

A execução deste terminal no terminal definirá seu monitor como 1080p @ 60hz, para torná-lo permanente, abrirá aplicativos de inicialização e copiará o código para ele, ou salvará isso como um arquivo .sh com G-edit e executará isso no boot.

Para alterar a taxa de atualização, basta alterar 1920x1080_60 para o número apropriado, por exemplo: 1920x1080_120.
