Depois de instalar ao lado do Windows 8, nenhum grub, o Windows 8 ainda está sendo inicializado

Eu tenho um PC executando o Windows 8.1 em um primeiro SSD.

Comprei um segundo SSD e instalei o Ubuntu 13.10 nele. A instalação foi concluída, apesar de em algum momento afirmar que nenhum outro sistema operacional foi instalado anteriormente - não tenho certeza se isso é um problema. Eu especifiquei o primeiro disco (aquele com Windows) como o disco para colocar o setor de inicialização.

Após a instalação, não havia menu grub e o Windows é iniciado.

Eu usei um disco de recuperação do grub que usei no passado para reinstalar o grub após a reinstalação do Windows. Ele foi concluído com sucesso (reconhecendo o Windows dessa vez) colocando o setor de inicialização em ambos os discos.

No entanto, o comportamento não mudou: nenhum menu grub e o Windows é iniciado.

Problema resolvido ao reinstalar tudo certificando-se de ter uma partição separada para o arranque do grub (como sugerido por um reparo de inicialização mais recente) e, como isso ainda não funcionou, execute novamente o reparo de inicialização nesta nova instalação.
