Erro no grub do host após a instalação do Virtualbox - Não recuperável

Eu não consegui corrigir uma solução para o meu problema e tenho sofrido com isso por um tempo.

Eu posso instalar o Virtualbox e reinicializar a máquina com sucesso logo em seguida. Uma vez que o sistema está de volta, posso executar o Virtualbox e começar a trabalhar para criar uma nova máquina.

Então, digamos que eu esteja instalando uma máquina XP. 1 vez fora de 10 irá funcionar com sucesso pela primeira vez. Se não funcionar (por exemplo, BSOD), eu apago a máquina e começo de novo.

Mas quando chega a hora de terminar e desligar meu computador, mas isso não acontece normalmente. Assim que clico em desligar, a máquina morre.

Quando a máquina é ligada, recebo:

Error: no such device

grub resuce>

Eu inicializo meu Grub Fix Live CD, mas o reinstalador de grub fica preso na procura de partições, gparted apenas fica preso procurando dispositivos e até fdisk -l cai uma linha e não exibe nada e é o mesmo. Preso.

A única maneira que eu sei como resolver isso é reinstalar o Ubuntu.

Alguém já teve esse problema ou sabe como corrigi-lo?

SUCESSO !!!

Finalmente eu tenho um XP funcional e Ubuntu inicializável e estável.

Eu rodei o virtualbox como root !! Simples assim.
