Instalando o Oracle JDK e reparando o apt-get

Question

Instalei o OpenJDK assim que instalei o sistema operacional.

Então baixei o IntelliJ IDEA e tentei executá-lo. Ele exibiu um aviso de que o IDEA conhecia problemas gráficos com o OpenJDK e que eu deveria instalar o Oracle JDK.

O IDEA funciona bem, exceto por suas fontes mal renderizadas e outros elementos da interface do usuário. Eu queria melhorar minha experiência com o usuário e decidi instalar o Oracle JDK. Pesquisando algumas palavras-chave, fui parar em nesta página .

Eu segui as instruções na página dada, mas a instalação falhou com este erro:

$ sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer

Agora, o status é que não tenho o Oracle JDK instalado e meu apt-get está confuso. A execução de sudo apt-get upgrade fornece o seguinte erro:

Eu preciso desse comando para trabalhar por algumas razões. Então eu realmente tenho duas perguntas:

• O que preciso fazer para que apt-get funcione como antes?
• Como instalo o Oracle JDK e é recomendável fazê-lo?
