os-prober eu acredito que só funciona com partições montadas. Então você primeiro precisa montar a outra instalação do Ubuntu em algum lugar e depois executar o update-grub.
Eu tenho o Windows 7 e o Ubuntu 12.04 em um disco rígido. Agora eu também instalei o Ubuntu 14.04, mas ele não está aparecendo no bootloader, então eu só posso acessar o Windows e o Ubuntu 12.04. Como eu adiciono o Ubuntu 14.04?
