Então, sinto que tentei de tudo, desde alterar as configurações do controlador de volume de áudio alsamixer e pulso, editar arquivos alsa.conf, limpar e reinstalar alsa e pulseaudio, até formatação e reinstalação definitivas.
Isso acontece quando eu instalei o Ubuntu 11.04, 11.10, assim como o Mint 11 e o 12.
