É com isso que o Update Manager aparece:

Eu tenho o mesmo problema como a sua pergunta. Mas eu não recebi nenhuma resposta.

Mas minha opinião sobre isso é que você deve instalar o Ubuntu12.04 novamente. Eu resolvi este problema

Quando este erro aparece:

E: Internal Error, No file name for libc6

De acordo com um bug no launchpad: link

executar esses comandos irá consertar (e funcionou para mim também):

# apt-get update
# apt-get clean
# apt-get install -fy
# dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/*.deb
# dpkg --configure -a
# apt-get install -fy
# apt-get dist-upgrade

mais especificamente, para mim, este comando fez isso:

# dpkg --configure -a
