Você está perdendo as outras bibliotecas das quais depende a instalação do VLC. Você pode fazer
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade -y
sudo apt-get install vlc browser-plugin-vlc
sudo apt-get -f install #if you have already tried to install the package and get the missing dependent libraries error.
Você também pode baixar o pacote do Ubuntu Software Center ou do site VLC . Baixe o pacote deb e instale com
sudo dpkg -i install package name
