xrandr: não é possível encontrar a saída 0x49

Não consigo configurar meu Samsung U28E590D usando o xrandr. Ele funciona bem sob o Windows e usando o centro de controle do Gnome funciona principalmente - mas eu quero usar o i3. O xrandr parece ser capaz de detectar a exibição, pois é listada quando eu executo xrandr sem nenhum parâmetro. Mas então, quando eu tento configurá-lo, isso me dá vários erros, pelo que eu entendo, todos da incapacidade de encontrar a tela.

Quando tento configurá-lo:

Eu tenho o Lenovo T450s com os gráficos Intel aqui e conecto o monitor através de uma estação de ancoragem original e porta de exibição.

Eu também aceito alternativas ao xrandr, contanto que não seja muito esforço fazê-las trabalhar com o i3.
