O que significa matar -3?

Eu sei o que kill -9 significa, mas qualquer um pode explicar o que significa kill -3 ? Existe algum sinal especial enviado?

kill -l nos mostra todos os sinais. Seguindo essa sugestão, 3 significa SIGQUIT
