Inicializando o Ubuntu com o GRUB2: como adicionar entrada de inicialização ao GRUB2?

Na noite passada, decidi dar um mergulho e instalar o Ubuntu como parte complementar do meu sistema de inicialização dupla (com o Windows 7). Infelizmente, todo o processo tem sido difícil, principalmente com o bootloader configurado corretamente.

Uma breve sinopse histórica, para o contexto completo da situação:

  1. Gerou e instalou o Ubuntu 11.04 x64 fora da configuração de uma unidade USB em uma máquina com Windows 7. Eu tive problemas para fazer o instalador iniciar, até descobrir que não podia usar minha porta USB3.0. Comutada para a porta USB2.0, continuou com a instalação.

  2. Eu tenho um disco rígido de 1TB que eu divido ao meio para a dupla inicialização: partição de 500GB para o Windows 7 e um de 500GB para o Ubuntu (excluindo as partições de arquivo de boot / swap). A partição do Ubuntu foi instalada com o sistema de arquivos ext4 e a instalação foi concluída sem nenhum problema aparente, e foi solicitada a reinicialização.

  3. Após a reinicialização, fui despejado no antigo gerenciador de inicialização do Windows, que imediatamente acionou o Windows. Eu brinquei com um utilitário chamado EasyBCD para tentar adicionar uma entrada do Linux à minha partição recém-instalada, sem sucesso.

  4. Em seguida, inicializei o Ubuntu diretamente da unidade USB e instalei o GRUB2 na partição de inicialização seguindo as etapas descritas aqui . Eu também executei o passo ("update-grub") para gerar um novo arquivo 'grub.cfg', que adicionou uma entrada ao meu antigo gerenciador de inicialização 'Windows 7', mas não um para minha nova partição Ubuntu! Quando eu reiniciei, o bootloader GRUB2 começou com sucesso, mas meu Ubuntu ainda não pôde ser encontrado / inicializado na lista de sistemas operacionais disponíveis.

Alguém tem alguma idéia de como eu devo alterar / atualizar essa configuração de tal forma que aponte para a minha nova instalação do Ubuntu corretamente?

Eu usaria o tutorial postado , o procedimento número 2 lá . Antes de emitir os comandos, certifique-se de que /dev/sdd seja a unidade pretendida de 1 TB.

sudo mount /dev/sdd3 /mnt
sudo grub-install --root-directory=/mnt/ /dev/sdd

Isso instalará o carregador do Grub no início da unidade e no diretório /boot em sdd3 .

Você não precisa executar a seção update-grub lá. Em seguida, vá para o BIOS e marque a unidade sdd como o dispositivo de inicialização principal.
