Portanto, meu objetivo geral é que eu queira ser capaz de codificar com aplicativos habilitados para CUDA. No entanto, após vários dias de pesquisa, usando instruções de instalação e reinstalando inúmeras vezes após a falha do driver ... agora estou aqui como último recurso.

Não consigo fazer com que o Ubuntu 12.04 LTS instale o driver NVIDIA 295.59 para minha placa gráfica GeForce GT 540M NVIDIA.

As principais especificações do sistema são as seguintes ... (Acredito que o processador Intel possa ser o problema)

DELL Laptop XPS L502X CPU Intel® Core ™ i7-2620M @ 2.70GHz × 4 Gráficos integrados da Intel 64 bits NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Todas as outras especificações são irrelevantes, a menos que eu tenha esquecido alguma coisa?

Métodos experimentados: aptitude install nvidia-current (todos os pacotes)

Resultados: Nada aconteceu de verdade. Nada apareceu no menu de drivers adicionais, nem o aplicativo de configurações do NVIDIA X Server permitiu acesso porque achava que não havia nenhum NVIDIA X Server instalado.

Driver baixado da nvidia.com. Definir nomodeset no menu de inicialização do grub através de /boot/grub/grub.cfg Fui para consolar e desligado lightdm. Instalou o driver, mas disse que a pré-instalação falhou? (não significa nada?) Started lightdm novamente.

Resultados: As configurações do NVIDIA X Server ainda não o notaram. Até tentei fazer o nvidia-xconfig várias vezes. Eu também entrei no arquivo de configuração para ter certeza que a configuração do driver dizia "nvidia".

aptitude install nvidia-173 (todos os pacotes)

Resultados: Não foi possível encontrar o pacote virtual xorg-video-abi-10. Não foi encontrado em lugar nenhum e os fóruns do Ubuntu em todos os lugares não tinham respostas. Muitas pessoas estavam tendo esse problema.

Isso é feito facilmente no Windows, basta baixar o driver e depurar no visual studio sem nenhum problema. Eu gostaria de instruções passo-a-passo claras sobre como eu deveria fazer isso. Eu sou relativamente novo no Linux, mas posso encontrar meu caminho muito bem, então você não está falando com um iniciante direto. Além disso, se você acha que outro tópico pode ter a resposta, poste porque eu estava tendo dificuldades em procurar meu tipo específico de problema.

TL; DR Eu quero ter acesso à minha GPU para que eu possa codificar com CUDA enquanto no Ubuntu 12.04 no meu laptop de 64 bits que também tem gráficos integrados da Intel no processador.

Existe um driver de vídeo disponível para download no site da Nvidia aqui . Ele suporta sua placa gráfica (a GeForce GT 540M) e CUA.

Check it out, pode ajudá-lo (eu tive esse mesmo problema)!

First install the following libraries & Tools:
sudo apt-get install freeglut3-dev build-essential libx11-dev libxmu-dev libxi-dev libgl1-mesa-glx libglu1-mesa libglu1-mesa-dev

Next we will blacklist some modules(drivers), in terminal enter:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Add the following to the end of the file(one per line like so):
blacklist amd76x_edac
blacklist vga16fb
blacklist nouveau
blacklist rivafb
blacklist nvidiafb
blacklist rivatv

Save the file and close the editor.
Now we want to get rid of any nvidia risiduals, in terminal:
sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia*

Next you need to restart your machine (sudo reboot).

# Please DON'T do the next step until you have watched the video! #

0) Press Ctrl+Alt+F1 at login screen(you don't have to login, we'll have to restart later anyway), then log in.
1) sudo service lightdm stop
2) cd Downloads
3) chmod +x devdriver*.run (your driver filename)
4) sudo ./devdriver*.run

You might have to run the driver-installer once, reboot(it will remove nouveau drivers) and repeat the steps again. Follow the installer instructions and it will be fine, when it asks you;
yes, you do want the 32-bit libraries and you DO want it to change the xorg.conf file.

Once the installer completes, restart (sudo reboot). You're done :]"

Solução II

Se a solução no link não funcionou para você, primeiro desinstale os drivers da nvidia (se houver) e use o procedimento a seguir (antes de reinstalar novamente).

sudo apt-get autoremove nvidia-*
sudo apt-get purge nvidia*
sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.orig1
sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Vá para "Dash Home" (canto superior esquerdo) e digite "configurações do sistema" > "Hardware" > "Drivers adicionais". Certifique-se de que nada esteja ativo (pode ser necessário reiniciar o PC se a mensagem instruir de acordo.).

Instalando os drivers NVIDIA (295.49 está estável a partir de agora, embora um novo 295.53 esteja disponível)
