Como faço o Windows XP reconhecer os EXEs novamente?

Eu tenho um vírus "primeiro" aqui. Basicamente, um amigo deixara seu sistema seriamente infectado. Ele tinha 8 vírus diferentes e 157 diferentes tipos de spyware (a maioria provavelmente replicada, mas ainda assim). Desde então, tenho executado vários scans e limpo o máximo que pude.

Mais recentemente, executei o Malwarebytes Anti-malware para eliminar o "XP SECURITY 2012". Agora, no entanto, não consigo iniciar nenhum EXE. Toda vez que eu tento iniciar um exe, o sistema me pergunta qual programa eu gostaria de usar para iniciar o exe. O_o

Em um mundo perfeito, eu simplesmente limpo e reinstalo, mas ele tem um milhão do que ele chama de "aplicativos perfeitamente configurados" e não quer que nada seja apagado. O que posso fazer para que o sistema reconheça novamente os EXEs em geral?

NOTA: Se eu disser para abrir o Firefox usando o Firefox, ele abrirá o FF e tentará liberar o FF.EXE local ... Eu posso usar o FF. Isto, claro, ainda é inaceitável.

Você provavelmente ainda tem um sequestro de imagens. Você pode removê-lo usando autoruns na aba Image Hijack ou excluí-lo da seguinte chave no registro

HKML\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options

Mas realmente ... pergunte ao seu amigo ... ele pode ter certeza de que você entendeu tudo? Sempre? Ele quer arriscar ter mais e mais problemas e questões de segurança? Talvez isso aconteça e ele perderá dados ou terá sua conta bancária comprometida. Realmente não vale a pena. Diga a ele para tirar um dia e reinstalar o software dele. É uma dor, mas vale a pena. Ele pode se arrepender muito depois que não o fez.

Para corrigir o exe que não está em execução após problemas de vírus, mescle um arquivo reg no registro
