No iMac que eu uso, no monitor de atividades, existem 4 usos diferentes da RAM:

1. Gratuito - Bastante auto-explicativo.
2. Com fio - O que é isso?
3. Ativo - claramente apenas a RAM atualmente sendo usada
4. Inativo - Eu acho que isso é apenas uma RAM reservada pelo sistema.

Então, o que é essa RAM com fio? Qual é o propósito e por que está sobrecarregando tanto?

• Wired: Used by an application that claims that the chunk of allocated memory must stay physically in RAM, and not swappable onto disk no matter it is recently used or not. i.e. another application may NOT request that particular trunk of memory. Examples are part of the memory utilized by the system, and that used by virtual machines.
